Science Exploration Days (SED) is a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) event that brings together members of the Rochester area community, industry, and academia to share their interest in and passion for the sciences and engineering technologies with junior and senior high students for hands-on and minds-on enrichment experiences. This year is the 48th year SED will be presented by the Central Western Section of the Science Teachers Association of New York State (CWS-STANYS). Nearly 100,000 area students have experienced STEM enrichment and exhibits at SED during this annual event. The Inaugural Student STEAM Fest will be held on Nov. 16, 2018 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. This event is for 3rd – 8th graders, and it’s a special sneak peek of Maker Faire Rochester that’s filled with hands-on activities, engaging demonstrations, wonder, and excitement centered around S.T.E.A.M. and every aspect of the Maker Movement.
