Join BOCES 4 Science for a one-day professional learning opportunity focused on developing meaningful understanding of the new vision for science teaching and learning presented in the NRC report, A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas. Brett Moulding, a member of the NRC Framework Committee and lead writer of the NGSS, will engage educators in developing an in-depth understanding of how to change science instruction to better match the current research in teaching and learning.
Science performances will be modeled and participants will engage with and reflect upon the performances to shift their science teaching and learning to ensure student engagement in the three-dimensions of the Framework and NGSS. Sessions will feature modeling, discussions and reflection of effective strategies to successfully engage students in science performance. The session will focus on how to use science phenomena in teaching.
Participants will receive a copy of Mr. Moulding’s book, Teaching Science is Phenomenal.
